Torres Blancas Apartment

A blank canvas in the emblematic Torres Blancas building in Madrid, no matter how small the apartment is, is always a design dream for any architect. At least that is how María, founder of the D’Lab and owner of the apartment, felt about it.

María moved back to Madrid, her hometown, after 8 years living and working in New York City. After almost a year looking for a flat, she found this small 79m2 apartment that met all her requirements: a perfect space where she could combine her home with her new design studio. It was also located in Saenz de Oiza’s Torres Blancas, one of her favorite buildings since she was a kid. A dream come true.

The sinuous curves, the spatial continuity, the spectacular light and the grandeur of the materials made the interior design project the perfect challenge. With the iconic color palette of D.Lab and the strong formal gestures so characteristic of the brand, the apartment becomes an oasis of light and color in the center of Madrid.

The focus was always to create a highly functional space, maximizing every square meter. But what perhaps makes this apartment so special is how the existing architecture has been enhanced through the strong formal component, almost dreamlike, so ingrained in D.Lab designs.
