Business Center for a European Bank

The D’Lab team has carried out the interior design of this Palace in the District of Salamanca, Madrid, for a European Bank. The building has become the bank’s new business center, a space where employees can meet clients and events can be hold.

With a special focus on the user experience in the space, we worked with the client to define a clear vision of how the public interacts with the brand in this emblematic building.

We established a fully tailored brand and interior design strategy for the direction in which the bank wants to position itself in the next ten years. A sober, modern and warm image.

The entry hall has been designed as an immersive space: the corporate color bathes the entire space through a wall paneling. This transitional space sets the tone for the entire project since yo step into the space, a modern, sober and elegant space.

The previous staircase had a massive, completely opaque railing that did not let light in nor did visually communicate the street floor with the upper floor.

We designed an extremely simple, elegant and proportionate railing, which pronunciates the vertical direction, raising the view towards the upper floors. The original floor is maintained, and all the vertical walls are lined with wood paneling that further accentuate that verticality.

The custom reception table, in brushed bronze, can serve as an auxiliary bar in the event of holding events.

The ‘Garden Room’ is the most special meeting space in the Palace. It consists of a vaulted room that opens onto the garden, bringing the exterior into the interior.

The clean and modern design contrasts with the existing more ornamented architecture. This room had many acoustical problems due to the existing vaults, so we decided to introduce elements that help improve acoustics: acoustic paneling on walls, curtains with acoustic fabrics, upholstered chairs, acoustic felt lamps and floor with acoustic backing.

The ground floor of the mansion has six meeting rooms. In all the rooms a modern air is maintained with the new furniture, mixing it with vintage pieces found in the space. The lounge area and the kitchen both follow this modern spirit, adding some more warmth to the space.

The building is located in the Salamanca district of Madrid and it was the former residence of the German ambassador in Spain until the end of World War II. It is currently the headquarters of the Bank.
